One of two African species of rhino alongside the smaller Black Rhinoceros, the white rhinoceros can be identified by its wide, square-shaped mouth and hump on the back of its neck. Males are larger than females, reaching lengths of 4m (13.1ft) and weighing an average of 2300kg (5070lbs). The white rhinoceros is the largest of five species of rhinoceros and represents the largest living land mammal after the elephants.
